BTC — Long From the 4H Order Block After the Weekly Sweep

Pair: BTC/USDT · Direction: Long · Timeframes: Daily bias, 4H execution Risk: 1R (fixed) · Result: +2.4R · Status: Closed

Context and bias

The daily had been in a clear uptrend since the last higher low, but price spent two weeks consolidating under resistance, engineering equal lows beneath the range. Sitting under those lows was the prior week’s low — an obvious pool of resting liquidity. My bias: no continuation higher until that liquidity was taken. So the plan was written before the session: wait for the sweep, wait for displacement back into the range, buy the retrace.

The setup

During the Asian session, price wicked below the weekly low and the equal lows in one move, then closed back inside the range — a textbook sweep with no acceptance below. The London open delivered the confirmation I needed: a strong 4H displacement candle breaking the most recent internal high (break of structure), leaving a clean order block at its origin.

Execution

  • Entry: Limit order at the upper third of the 4H order block, filled on the retrace roughly six hours after the BOS.
  • Stop: Below the sweep wick — if price trades back under that low, the idea is invalid, full stop.
  • Target: The high of the consolidation range, which lined up with a daily inefficiency above. Measured at entry: ~2.5R.

No partials planned below 2R. One setup, one risk unit.

Management and exit

Price chopped around entry for two 4H candles — uncomfortable, but nothing invalidated. Once the next leg broke short-term highs, I moved the stop to breakeven at +1R (per plan, not emotion). Final exit was a limit at the range high, filled during the New York session at +2.4R — slightly short of the measured target because I placed the order below the obvious level rather than at it, where everyone else’s orders sit.

Review

What I did well: The plan existed before the session, and the trade only happened because the market completed every condition on the checklist. Entry, stop, and target were all pre-defined. No screen-watching decisions.

What to improve: I hesitated for one candle after the BOS before setting the limit order. It cost nothing this time, but hesitation after confirmation is a discipline leak, not a strategy question. Logged.

One-line lesson: The sweep is the signal — everything after it is just confirmation and patience.
